Being the adventurer he is, Billy and the crew hitched a ride across the island and found thier way to Rincon where finally they found the hilltop that Mush called home. The next day was historical... Mush introduced the guys to the Big Waves at Domes, Marias , Dogmans and Tres Palmas. Billy went back each year for 3 years straight honing his skills on the big waves of the Caribbeans "Hawaii".
Billy met his wife Claudette "Maggie" Morgan and married her in 1980. Together they have raised 5 children. Ishack, Inilek, Icah, Imani and Ivah. I am sure you have heard these names before as the Wilmot family has now become world famous as the "Jamaican Surfing Family" who hangs with all the "pro's"...
Billy taught his kids to surf and as they got hooked on the sport, realized that there was no formal structure for the sport of surfing in Jamaica. Kids need structure in their sporting endeavors so Billy along with some of the other pioneers of Jamaicas surf history formed the Jamaica Surfing Association in 1999 and worked at formalizing the sport locally, affiliating with the International Surfing Association and the Pan American Surfing Association. Around the same time, as this was in the works, Billy met Patrick and the two pioneered a movement to bring Jamiaca and the Quashi brand to the world. |
